GRACE,
does not support any style of homeschooling other than Christian.
We had around 60 families last year and there are many kinds of
curriculum used. Families are free to make their own
choices. We are simply a support group. We offer field
trips, music night (similar to recitals with musical instruments or
singing), spelling and geography bees, science, art, and literature
fairs, graduation ceremonies for K, 8, 12 with honors from all grades
(this is based on the parent's recommendations since they are the
teachers), mother's support meetings, middle/high
school activities, we offer a GRACE Co-Op, family
activities, Pre-K/elementary activities, as well as beginning and end
of the year celebrations. These activities may include anything
from getting together at a member's home and enjoying fellowship or
organized events like Putt-Putt, lazer tag, Kangaroo Jake’s (indoor
inflatables), etc. We do not have attendance requirements. GRACE
offers a smorgasbord of activities and each family chooses what is
right for them!
To start the year off (usually in late July or early August), we have a
mother's meeting where we get together and plan the activities we'd
like to have throughout the year. We decide on field trips,
dates, yearbook staff, etc. It's an organizational meeting to get
on our calendars what we'd like to see happen. We also ask for
volunteers to coordinate an activity, field trip, etc. Being that
we are a non-profit, all homeschoolers, volunteer run
organization.
